Data Engineer (consulting)
Searching Pi is looking for a Data Engineer who wants to build the data foundations behind analytics and AI solutions for enterprise clients.
What you would do
As a Data Engineer, you design and build the data foundations that power analytics and AI solutions for medium and large enterprises.
On projects, you will:
- Design and implement scalable data architectures (data platforms, lakehouses, data warehouses)
- Build robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines (batch and, where relevant, streaming)
- Integrate data from various source systems and APIs
- Ensure data quality, reliability, security and performance
- Collaborate closely with data analysts, AI engineers and client stakeholders
- Help modernize existing data platforms and migrate legacy solutions
- Apply software engineering best practices such as version control, testing and CI/CD
- Support clients in making architectural decisions and future-proofing their data landscape
You will work in project teams, often taking ownership of technical components while staying closely aligned with business goals.
Who we are looking for
You are a technically strong consultant who enjoys building reliable data systems and explaining them clearly to others.
You have:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience as a data engineer or similar role
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, SQL, Java or Scala
- Experience with modern data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g. Spark, Databricks, Airflow, dbt, Kafka)
- Familiarity with data modeling and data warehousing concepts
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g. Git)
- Exposure to one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure and/or GCP is a plus)
You also:
- Understand the importance of maintainable, well-documented solutions
- Are comfortable working in a client-facing consulting role
- Are fluent in Dutch (required)
- Have a good knowledge of English
- Are based in Belgium and open to a hybrid working model
